The Vanilla - The Sun's Tide

The Vanilla - The Sun's Tide Is the new PPP (peelland fm's power play) That means lots of airplay in the next week.

The Vanilla are the newest indie pop sensation on the South African scene, or at least they will be once you catch a whiff of their debut single “The Sun’s Tide”. A burst of jangling four chord guitar riffs open the song – giving it an air of nostalgic and carefree youth as a groovy bass riff plays in the background alongside a bouncy drum section. Tyan Odendal’s vocals add to the youthful atmosphere of the song as he delivers catchy and intelligent lyrics about, well, having a good time.

“The song is about being free and careless and just having a good time at the seaside in the december summer holidays. I wanted to create a careless atmosphere for people to just sing and dance to and forget about all their problems for a moment” – Tyan Odendal, lead singer.

The Vanilla have most definitely created a song to beat away the pre-Winter blues as her icy fingers tenderly brush the back of our necks. I look forward to any future music from them – especially if they keep to this carefree indie pop meets pop rock formula.
